Welcome to Sufra Archive, SWANA’s dedicated food history archive of more than 2500 items. We are soft-launching this digital archive in its first phase to with more than 200 items, all of which are free to use for research, Academic work or presentations. We just ask you to credit us in your work (read more about the terms of use here.)
In 2020, Sufra Archive as a research project was conceptualized and launched as a social media platform. With the generous Research on The Arts Program grant, awarded by the Arab Fund for Arts & Culture (AFAC) and the Arab Council for Social Sciences (ACSS), the project was able to grow and materialize into a digital archive. Some of the archive’s collection of materials from the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia was made possible with the support of Art Jameel through commissions.
The website is under construction- to be launched in 2024!
